Wi-Fi Cloud 8.8 Production Release

WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud wird am Freitag, den 23.08.2019, ab 02:00 Uhr morgens (Europa) auf die Version 8.8 geupdatet. Im Zuge dessen gibt es einige neue Features.

Geplantes Wartungsfenster und Dauer: 6 Stunden (02:00 Uhr – 08:00 Uhr)

• • Erweiterungen in Discover:
    -SSIDs und AP-Geräte- und Funk-Einstellungen konfigurieren
    -WIPS-Einstellungen konfigurieren sowie Richtlinien für autorisiertes WLAN und Intrusion Prevention
    -Überwachung von WIPS-Aktivitäten und Sicherheitswarnungen
    -Wi-Fi Cloud-Berichte konfigurieren, planen und einsehen
  • Hitless Device Firmware Update:
    -minimiert die Ausfallzeit für drathlose Clients bei Access Point Updates. APs werden nicht gleichzeitig mit anderen APs in der Nähe aktualisiert, sodass drahtlose Clients in dieser Umgebung weiterhin mit dem Wi-Fi-Netzwerk verbunden bleiben können.
  • SNMP Trap Support:
    -Unterstützung für das Senden von SNMP-Trap-Nachrichten an Netzwerküberwachungstools mit einem als CIP (Cloud Integration Point) konfigurierten Zugriffspunkt
  •  VXLAN Support:
    -VXLAN-Tunnel können nun konfiguriert und überwacht werden

Während des Updates kann nicht auf die Wi-Fi-Cloud-Verwaltungsdienste zugegriffen werden. Die APs bleiben jedoch weiterhin funktionsfähig und auch die Splashpages für den Gästezugang bleiben verfügbar. Nach Abschluss des Wi-Fi Cloud Updates wird die AP-Firmware basierend auf Ihren konfigurierten Einstellungen für geplante automatische Updates oder manuelle Updates aktualisiert. Je nach Internetverbindung und verfügbarer Bandbreite benötigt jeder Access Point ungefähr 10 Minuten, um das Firmware-Update abzuschließen.

• • • Discover Application Enhancements — You can now perform these tasks in Discover:
      • Configure SSIDs and AP device and radio settings.
      • Configure WIPS settings including access point and client classifications, Authorized WiFi Policies, and Intrusion Prevention.
      • Monitor WIPS activity and security alerts.
      • Configure, schedule, and view Wi-Fi Cloud reports.           
    • Hitless Device Firmware Update — Minimizes the downtime for wireless clients during access point upgrades. Access points are not upgraded at the same time as nearby access poonts so that wireless clients in that vicinity can remain connected to the Wi-Fi network.
    • SNMP Trap Support — Added support for sending SNMP trap messages to network monitoring tools with an AP configured as a CIP (Cloud Integration Point).
    • VXLAN Support — You can now configure and monitor VXLAN tunnels.

  User Impact:

  • • Wi-Fi Cloud management services will be inaccessible during the maintenance activity.
    • There is no impact to customer Wi-Fi service. Access Points will still be functional and provide connectivity and security.
    • Captive portal splash pages will be functional for guest access.
    • After the Wi-Fi Cloud upgrade is complete, access point firmware will be updated based on your configured settings for scheduled automatic update or manual update. Each access point requires approximately 10 minutes to complete the firmware update depending on your Internet link and available bandwidth.
